’The Grieg Code’ released on ACT 31.1.2009
Geir Lysne ‘s great success work ‘The Grieg Code ‘, a suite for large jazz orchestra, is now released on CD. Lysne is very pleased with the recording and have a strong feeling of making important steps toward increasing sound and ensemble identity. ‘The Grieg Code’ is based on fragments from the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg´s original music, and it is recorded by his own Geir Lysne ensemble which contains of 13 strong solo players from Norway, Denmark, Germany and Russia. Countries Edvard Grieg had a strong relation to.
With remarkable success, Lysne has made his three latest albums in cooperation with his dream team; Siegfried Loch with his great label ACT and sound engineer Jan Erik Kongshaug in Rainbow studio. The last album ‘Boahjénasti’ won ‘German Record Critics' Award 2006’, and was nominated for ‘Danish Music Award Jazz’ as well.
This dream team cooperation continues with ‘The Grieg Code’. Kongshaug recorded it live in Rainbow studio during some exiting days in June 08. The fact that Loch still believes in this music and that he shows such great enthusiasm about the new recording is extremely important for Lysne, both personally and professionally.
